Important Information
Short-term travelers do not have Japanese health insurance and must pay the full cost of medical treatment themselves.
To file a travel insurance claim, be sure to obtain receipts (領収書) and detailed medical reports (診療明細書).
Prescription medications are obtained from pharmacies (薬局) with a doctor's prescription.
Before visiting a hospital, always inquire by phone first (as advised by the Consulate General in Osaka).
