Something has appeared on my skin
Recommended department — Dermatology
When to go straight to the emergency room
- Swelling of the lips, tongue or throat with difficulty breathing (anaphylaxis — call 119 now)
- A rash spreading over the whole body with a high fever
- Large blisters and peeling skin
If you have any of the symptoms above, call 119 or go to the nearest emergency room.
What should I do?
Rashes, hives, atopic dermatitis and eczema are seen by dermatology.
Hives usually settle within hours or days, but if they keep coming back it is worth being tested for allergies. The right ointment depends on the problem, so ask a pharmacist before using one, and do not use a steroid ointment for a long time on your own. You can also post a photo in the community and ask about others' experiences — but get the diagnosis from a doctor.
