Muromuro is a service that helps you find hospitals and pharmacies on a map in Korea. Based on government public data such as the National Health Insurance Service, it provides free information on the location, hours of operation, departments, equipment, and non-covered treatment costs of approximately 70,000 hospitals and 25,000 pharmacies nationwide.
There are two more things here. One is overseas hospitals: 1,103 hospitals in 14 countries — the US, China, Japan, Australia, Germany, Indonesia and more — where Korean or English is spoken, gathered from the guides published by Korean embassies and consulates. The other is a community that works across eight languages: write in your own language and readers see it in theirs, so you can ask and answer without knowing Korean.
There are no ads. You can use it without signing up, and there is an Android app.
What kind of service is Muromuro?
This is a free service that allows you to find hospitals and pharmacies in Korea using maps and search, view information about hospitals overseas, and share health-related stories in eight languages. It is based on government public data and does not contain any advertisements.
Can I also find hospitals located overseas?
Yes. In 14 countries — the US, China, Japan, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau — you can see 1,103 hospitals where Korean or English is spoken on a map and get directions. The information comes from the guides published by Korean embassies and consulates, and we show the source and the date the data refers to. We keep adding countries.
Can I use it even if I don't know Korean?
Yes. The screen, hospital information, and community posts are automatically translated into eight languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Vietnamese, Russian, and Thai. When you write in your language, people from other countries can read it in their own language, and the replies will be translated back to your language.
Can I know the cost of treatment in advance?
You can compare the out-of-pocket expenses for treatments not covered by health insurance, on a hospital-by-hospital basis. These amounts are exactly what the hospitals reported to the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, and may differ from the actual costs, so we recommend checking by phone before visiting.
Can you find a pharmacy that is currently open?
Yes, you can now find pharmacies that are currently open, including late-night pharmacies and pharmacies open on holidays, by region. We have also compiled a separate list of medical institutions that offer evening and holiday services for when your child is sick at night or on weekends.
Can I see what equipment that hospital has?
Yes, you can view the status of medical equipment such as MRI, CT, PET, and proton therapy machines for each hospital. There is also a medical terminology dictionary that explains technical terms in easy-to-understand language.
Is there an app available?
Yes, an Android app. It has an interpreter — tap the mic and speak, and it shows the other language and reads it aloud (Korean ↔ 7 languages, works offline) — plus easier nearby hospital/pharmacy search and notifications.
Is a fee or membership required?
It is completely free and needs no sign-up. There are no ads either.
